Programme of our sightseeing tour entitled "Christkindl" in Steyr

Starting from Linz or another place in Upper Austria, you will be comfortably seated in your bus, minibus or car depending on the number of participants and you will discover the alpine area, representative of the Upper Austria and the city of Steyr. Once in Steyr, we will go first of all in Christkindl, world-wide famous place of pilgrimage for its famous post office which has a lot of stamps valued by every philatelist and fans of Christmas. We will contemplate the pilgrimage church of child Jesus and then we will visit the post office during the Christmas period where it will be possible to buy souvenirs or if you are lucky, to have a special stamp of the previous year. We will go on towards the rectory of Christkindl to see a mecanic crib animated by Christmas characters and the famous "Pöttmeisterkrippe" crib which has more than 700 sculpted figurines.

After our visit in Christkindl, we will go on to the main square of Steyr where we will start a visit of the city. We will discover the oldest gothic house of Upper Austria, the Rococo cityhall, the Schubert house and the residence "Bummerlhaus", symbol of Steyr. Then we will go to the Enns, tributary of the Danube. Past the bridge of Steyr, we will go in the district of Steyrdorf where we will admire the Sankt Michael's church and go up to the dam "Wehrgraben" where we will see the museum of the world of work. (usually we don't need a ticket but it is possible to ask for a guide service) Then, we will cross Steyr again to go to the Lamberg castle where we will enjoy the beautiful view if the weather is set fair. We will visit the baroque courtyard and its open-air theater. Then, we will go for a walk in the gardens of the castle to see the biggest industrial arms company in the Austro-Hungarian Empire called "Werndl denkmal" where are exhibited works of the famous Austrian industrial inventor Josef Werndl. To end this excursion, we will admire the parish church of Steyr, built by the architect Hanns Puchsbaum and we will see the museum which is in the old house "Innerberger Stadl", before going back to our vehicle on the main square and thus go back to Linz.
